Tumeric, a member of the ginger family, is commonly used as a spice but is also known for its’ medicinal benefits.  Used in India for thousands of years, its’ warm, peppery flavour and mild fragrance make it popular in curries whilst the curcumin (the yellow pigment) has powerful biological and anti-inflammatory properties which have helped patients suffering with arthritis. It has also been linked to alleviating chronic pain and depression, making it good for the mind, body and soul.

Ginger has been one of the most important ingredients throughout history in south-eastern Asia, India and China. Valued for its aromatic taste and medicinal properties, it has also been used for thousands of years in various forms of traditional/alternative medicines. The unique scent and flavour of ginger comes from its natural oils and the most important active ingredient is gingerol. Gingerol has anti-inflammatory properties which can help alleviate stomach cramps and nausea.
